Pet Electrocardiography in Forest Hills, NY

The electrocardiogram (ECG) is a test that helps to ascertain the heart’s rhythm and rate. Your veterinarian may need to combine the results of an ECG with those from blood tests, x-rays, and possibly cardiac ultrasounds in order to properly understand how your pet’s heart is functioning. An ECG procedure is quick, safe, and non-invasive. It just takes a few minutes.

The body sends electrical signals to the heart, which stimulate normal rhythm and tempo in heartbeats. A device called an electrocardiograph may detect and record electrical changes caused on by heartbeat. Your veterinarian can use this information to determine the heartbeat and rate of your pet. The process of using an electrocardiograph to monitor heart rate and rhythm is known as electrocardiography, and the result is an electrocardiogram (ECG).
